A Brief View of Tokyo

Big Cat and Big Godzilla

Arriving in Tokyo everything was madly busy. After the walk to the hotel we had free time before a group meal.

We braved the subway and headed into the centre. Like a lot of tourists we saw the Godzilla Head and 3D cat. We then used the subway again to go to Shibuya to be amazed at the Scramble Crossing and picked up the courage to follow hundreds of other people crossing this crazy junction.

Pokemon

We then spent a while looking for the Pokemon shop, this was to find something for Joe. Once found the shop was the busiest place we'd seen in Japan! It was chaos in the shop and massive queues for the till. Even before going in you had to get a ticket with a time slot for visiting.

Goodbyes and Tea

The evening meal was nice ok food but fun as everyone got on. The troublesome due decided not to join us! Other than a small Romanian/Northern Ireland confrontation over a misunderstanding it all went well and plenty of laughter. It was then an early start for the 6am taxi to the airport.

Japan Express

We've enjoyed Japan, the title of the tour, Japan Express, really sums it up. Lots of walking and public transport and not too long in any one place. We feel we now have an insight into the country.

The people in the group were mainly top people once we all got to know each other just frustrating over a couple. The places we visited have been fantastic and despite public holidays and golden week it was never too busy.

We had a set amount of time before Thailand and glad we saw both South Korea and Japan but think they both deserved longer, only have half a day in Tokyo was perhaps the biggest gap in the 2 trips.

It's now time for the Tuk Tuks and North Thailand
