All is Quiet on New Year's Day

The morning after the night before
We had a free day in Sucre today so after a slightly later breakfast (although we weren't hungover) I headed into the town for a look around. It was much quieter than yesterday and the clean up from last night had pretty much been completed.
I think about 1/4 of the restaurants were open with others shut for New Years Day. We, myself and Karen, found a place for a quick lunch but I imagine due to limited places open it was really busy and our sandwiches took 50 minutes minutes to arrive. Although the odd empty bottles were in the squares.
I'll meet you at the cemetery gates
This meant by the time we'd finished it was time for our city tour. We went with 4 others from our group and saw a good part of the city. It was a marvellous tour including the town, the main park, the cemetery which was amazing to walk round and a viewpoint above the city. The cemetery was interesting for the mix of mausoleums, graves and loads of niches some with graves and some with ashes. It was a nice mix of history, culture and photo opportunities The tour normally includes two or three museums but as it was a bank holiday we only visited one. It sounded terrible, a precious metal and element museum but was actually brilliant. The guy was so enthusiastic and the displays were in the dark until he talked about each one and he then lit it up, which was a great way to keep of interest and attention.
Bon Appétit
We then had a bit of quiet time before going for tea, it was a group of 8 of us and we went to a really nice French restaurant. We finished the night taking photos of the Christmas lights in the square.
We've enjoyed Sucre it's a UNESCO world heritage site and is a brilliant comparison to the madness of La Paz. Definitely good to have seen them both.
