A Chill Day in Cambodia: The Tale of the Missing Shirt

Enjoying the Hotel
I hate to say a lazy day because most of ours when not on organised trips tend to be quite easy. So a chilled day. We checked in for flights, sorted a few things for later in the holiday. Also made use of the pool.
The Laundry Experience
I collected our laundry but found one of my shirts missing. This probably wouldn't have mattered but it was one of 2 long sleeve tops I have. Reading about dodgy mosquitoes in Sri Lanka made me keen to find it. I went back to the shop they couldn't find it but an hour later the manager sent me a picture of my shirt proudly displaying the Primark label!
Traffic in Phnom Penh
We also walked up to the chemist to top up on our Deet. The city is very hectic but has a lot of open spaces and in the evening these are busy with walkers, joggers and various other sports.
As we finish in Phnom Penh we still haven't got used to rules for crossing the roads. If you're confident and go for the gaps then you can get across its just that the gaps can be in quite fast moving traffic. On our travels we've got used to pedestrian crossings on streets meaning nothing but here the crossing even with a green man are ignored by motor bikes and tuktuks.
Reflecting on Cambodia
Phnom Penh and Cambodia as a whole has been a great 2 weeks. A nice mix of trips and lazing. We've also had a few nice hotels. The people are lovely and helpful. The scenery is amazingly green.
Occasionally guides and hotel staff are over attentive and keen for good reviews but I think that's a lot due to us being here in the low season with massive competition for the limited business.
We've been generally lucky with the weather again some short sharp downpours but never enough to disruot our plans.
The history a mix of amazing temples and the horrific recent history. The fact that 3 million out of a population of 8 million died during the civil war either murdered, killed in battle or due to starvation is a scary stat. We've both found the Buddhism history and beliefs quite interesting, Karen was all for becoming Buddhist since we were told one of the 5 principles is don't drink, I haven't heard anything further.
We have an early morning tomorrow and onto Sri Lanka.
