Getting to Busan
Today we headed to Busan, sadly not by train but luckily no zombies. Busan is unkindly referred to the Old Man and the Sea by other parts of South Korea due to the average being high. The young people are leaving for Seoul and other citites
Films, Temple and the Sea
Our first stop was Bulguska Temple which is another one mainly destroyed by the Japanese but now accurately restored. Like the other temples lots of colourful lanterns for the Buddha's birthday. Then as we as we arrived in Busan we stopped at Gamcheon cultural village, this is a busy area with a South American feel due to the multi-coloued houses. We found it impossible not to try frozen beer from an ice-cream shop. It was really just very cold beer made to look like an ice cream with a sweet white topping and honey on top. The streets were nice to walk around but very busy.
We then had a stop at a massive fish market, lots of live fish and many including the sea worm I'd never seen before and wouldn't want to eat.
We visited the location of the Busan International Film Festival which was cool. I enjoyed looking at the street plaques trying to find film people I had heard off
In Bohol a winding street was called the Chicken Intestine Road, here they have a bridge over the river which goes up and then doubles back on itself which is called the Rollercoaster. On both we were glad not to be driving.
The last stop before the hotel was another restored temple but this one on the coast which is quite unusual as most are on hills and inland.
That's Entertainment
We finished the day with dinner at Fuzzy Naval, where I managed to get a local craft beer. We then met up with the group for karaoke. Our guide booked a room at a karaoke bar so we could sing and drink away from other critical eyes. It was a good night we finished at 11pm but 3 people stayed on until around 1am, it was nice to see them suffering the next day.
Busan is a really impressive city, with the beach it seems like a real destination and a shame only one night here. Also seems a shame young people are leaving.
