Exploring Chiang Mai Province

A day of exploring
We had a day exploring the local area and staying at the same lodgings as the previous night.
It's been generally dry with a mix of sunshine and clouds, decent for walking around and I think around the mid 20s degrees.
This morning we went to Doi Inthanon, Thailand highest peak and walked a little bit of the Yod Doi nature trail. It was an interesting walk with the guide giving us plenty of detail. We then went to see the King's Pagodas. These are big structures built around 60 years ago to celebrate the king and queen. They were built and are looked after by the Thai Air Force who have a base nearby.
In the afternoon we drove across to the Wachiratham waterfalls, which were impressive. It was nice having the spray cool us down.
Today has been the first touristy day of the trip. Although not Japan busy there have been plenty of other tourists at the places we visited.
We finished the touring with a look round a village next to the hotel. Interesting to start with but became more for the older ladies so we walked back to the hotel!
Cooked Tea
After the previous night's cook your own food, tonight was a delicious meal. A mix of fish and chicken with veg and green curry.
We'll be glad to be back on the tuk tuk tomorrow and exploring more of Thailand. The last 2 days have been good but after the elephants and rafting a bit of a drop. From now onwards only breakfast is included in the package as I think we are staying in more resorty type places, will be interesting to find food places for ourselves.
Hopefully there will be less flies at other resorts as we've been tormented by them here, especially horrible at mealtimes!
Mae Sariang
We followed this with a travel day to Mae Sariang. Again tegular stops for us and the Tuk Tuks. The scenery was great and the time flew. The roads steep and windy, but this doesn't stop cars overtaking, often quite scary on blind corners. At one point where there was a bug drop on our left we saw a car had gone through the crash barrier. People were at the top so we think quite recent. 20 yards later another hole in the barrier and a car at the bottom!
The weather has been varied sunny, then rain and finishing with sunshine as we reached the hotel. As soon as we arrived a massive thunderstorm with fork lightning stopped any thoughts odmf a swim.
Due to the election no alcohol was sold today so it was coke zero with our tea!
