Change of Plan and Setting Off
After checking around Conor and Sarah's to make sure we'd left nothing behind and that no cats or dog were in the van we set off. After listening to the locals we have altered our plans and are going to take a very leisurely trip to Port Fairy with 4 x 2 night stops rather than swapping camp every day and trying to cover The Alpine Road and Wilson's Promontory.
Our first destination is Torquay, this journey was fine, again good views and the scenery varied from farms/wineries to forests then the coast. We did start counting dead kangaroos but quickly saw 3 and felt a bit morbid so have stopped looking for them. So far only seen live ones from a distance behind the trees.
Setting Up in Torquay
Parking up at the Torquay campsite was quite easy. They gave us a good pitch after we mentioned we were newbies. Although there seems a group of cockatoos in the trees above us. Never realised how noisy they were, Google has informed me a group of cockatoos are a crackle in view of the noise they make.
The initial mystery of the motorhome is reducing as we learn how to use everything, so far we have filled the water tank and emptied the grey water, sussed the aircon and TV areal. We are saving emptying the toilet mullarkey before we leave this site.
The van has a good kitchen set up so we are sorting our own meals which so far is fun, hopefully if we do this to start with we can treat ourselves as the trip goes on as we are in the van until the end of March.
We've had a really hot day today, 31C so our walk was very sweaty. We walked along the Surf Coast Beach Walk, some great views.
