Meet Up

t was great to meet up with James and El, but a shame Joe couldn't make.

We had 2 nights and 1 full day in Singapore and were all blown away by the city. It has everything a capital city should skyscrapers mixed with older smaller buildings, lots of museums and galleries, plenty of green spaces and a great waterfront. The threat of fines and community service for littering definitely work as it is a incredibly clean city. It also feels really safe.

Laundry, Museums and Parks

After an hour at the laundrette! We started with a walk/picnic in Fort Canning Park for Karen and El, whilst me and James went to the museum and learnt about the history of Singapore.

Evening Explorations

We headed out again for Raffles and enjoyed an expensive Singapore Sling. Glad we did this as definitely an iconic place, it seemed a real shame they don't enforce the dress code. We dressed much smarter than we had done since the cruise and felt the vibe of a classic bar was stretched a bit by people in t-shirts and shorts. Nothing against people dressing like that as we've been casual most of the holiday it just seems if you go to Raffles make an effort!

We then walked round Chijmes; an area with bars and restaurants showing live music all around an old church. The jazz bar was shut so we opted for a cocktail bar nearby on the lower level.

We spent time after walking around Fort Canning and the tree tunnel. Although we didn't queue to take photographs of each other here instead we headed out to the marina. At 8pm and 9pm they have a free fountain light show. This was great without being too busy, the water was lit up in different colours and music played to match the strength of the jets.

Next to the fountain show was Gardens by the Bay, all lit up and night and we could probably have spent hours here but hunger was calling so we enjoyed the view of these massive man-made Supertree Grove gardens with colourful plants that look spectacular lit up.

We then caught a taxi to Chinatown but the restaurant we tried was a bit limited choice wise and chicken gizzards didn't tempt us so we headed back to the hotel for a more Western meal of chicken and pasta.

Singapore definitely deserved longer than we but with time running out on our trip that's all we could fit in. Plus, after being mega cheap to eat and drink in the last few countries you need to get your mindset and budget planned.enjoying picnics, and couples are sharing romantic moments under the stars. It’s a reminder of how vibrant Singapore can be, especially during the evenings.
