Port Campbell to Tamboon

Biketastic

Our plan today was to cycle to the 12 Apostles as we'd seen a 12 Apostle cycle trail online. When we picked the bikes up, the lady said the that part of the trail hadn't been built yet. I like a 12 Apostles trail that doesn't go to the 12 Apostles.

She suggested going up to Timboon as this was all on cycle paths. We did this stopping for some cake on the way and lunch when we got there.

The ride was great, through a mix of scenery and landscapes although mostly inland so different to the views we'd had over the last few days.

Despite the bike being an e-bike it was still surprisingly hard work. The electric was a nice boost on the hills though. We did just over 45km and ached a bit at the end! I think worse on the arms as the ground was often quite rough so a lot of vibrations. The bikes we had were both the same size so tricky for Karen to get her leg over so to speak and small for me. I felt a bit hunched over the whole time. Carrying the rucksack with the water bottles etc didn't make it easier for me either!

But it was an excellent day. We had planned a drink afterwards but we were worried once we sat down might not get back up.

Snakes Alive

A slight bit of excitement during the ride occurred as I tried to avoid a branch on the path, only to realise I was heading straight toward a long dark grey snake. Luckily the noise scared the snake and rather than attacking me it scuttled away. Internet searches for dark grey/black snake in Victoria are a bit scary!
