The Day We Caught The Train

Unusual Alarm Call
It wasn't meant to be an early start today but around 5am the noise started, this time I think it was Hindu drums competing with the Christion Mass! A different alarm call for us.
Riding the Train
We caught the Ella to Kandy train today, although our journey was to Nanuoya, about 3 hours rathe rthan the whole way to Kandy. The scenery was amazing, the track is set high up in the hillside so incredible views. It also meant a lot of the time steep drops to our right. The train goes along with the doors open so people love to lean out for pictures and to pose. Karen did for a while and I did for perhaps 2 seconds.
The train was lively with locals and tourists and traders coming on to sell food and drink.
Eliya Nuwara
When he dropped us off our guide seemed very nervous, I think concerned we'd get off at the wrong statuon and wondering where he'd have to pick us up from. Luckily all went well and we met up correctly.
We had a look around the town of Eliya Nuwara, me and Karen had a walk to a park and then as we got to the lake we had 90-degree side rain so we called for a lift. We stopped at an Anglican church, which was really interesting as a chap there gave us plenty of detail.
Ice Cold in Sri Lanka
We headed to the hotel which seem good, if there wasn't so much cloud and rain the views would be great. Also after temperatures towards 30 and feel like 40, this evening it is around 15C in the hotel with no heater! We are so cold!
