The sweet city of Sucre

Leaving La Paz
Another early start as we left our hotel at 5.30am. We had to catch 2 flights to get to Sucre. Bizarrely we all got off at the first airport waited an hour and then got on the same plane for the second leg.
The bus to take us to our hotel was a little old fashioned, with all our cases and bags directly behind the driver and in front of where we sat. A one time when we were going along at around 40 mph one of the cases slipped from the top directly towards the driver! Somehow, he coped and we made it to the hotel.
Sucre First Impressions
Sucre seems a brilliant city, lots of impressive white buildings and we are booked for to a city tour tomorrow. We selected the 2.30pm because tonight is NYE so we may not be up too early.
Our guide took us for a walk round the city and to a supermarket so we could stock up on snacks and drinks. We all met in the courtyard of the hotel for "pre's" as the young people call them. We also chatted to another G Adventure group and to a girl who used to live in Walkley and work for the Home Office as well. It is a small world again.
Celebrate...
Around 10.30pm we went across to the town square where there was a big NYE celebration. It was extra this year as the start of the 200th anniversary of Bolivian independence. Lots of fireworks and music, by the time we left the square was really full. The last band we saw I think were called The Hunters and are Bolivia's biggest band.
We felt very lucky to be part of this celebration.
We learnt something else over the last couple of days, that due to various historical battles between Sucre and La Paz, Bolivia now classes both as its capital cities. They look after different things for the country but both seen as capitals.
